We know you've been waiting for this. So without further delay, here is the interview with Julie Iris Fernandez!
Mr. Interviewer: First of all, thank
you for this interview. Now, I've been getting a number
of e-mails lately refuting my claim as MYMP's biggest
fan. Could you do me a favor and silence those buggers
by affirming my said claim?
Juris: Hmmm...If you buy 1 million copies of our album, biggest fan ka na. Pero sige na nga! Thanks for the support.
Ms. Interviewer: There was one track (awit ng saya) in the album that you composed and performed--the first ever recording of your own song. how did it feel like when you made it?
Juris: Hehe. I can't remember, but hearing it in the album felt great. Here's a trivia. When we submitted compositions for our producer and recording company to choose from, di namin sinama yung song, nagkulang kami ng songs for the album. You know, last minute. Buti na lang nagustuhan nila for filler. Kung hindi, na delay sana recording namin.
Ms. Interviewer: What is your most cherished experience about being a musician thus far?
Juris: I Can't think of a particular one, but I always say that one of the things that's great about being a musician is when we get to jam or sing on-stage, or be in one show with other musicians na magaling, at least for me.
Mr. Interviewer: What are MYMP's next moves after the debut album?
Juris: We just finished our mall tours
here in Manila. We're hoping that [by 2004] we will
start promoting our album on television, and hopefully
A.S.A.P. magawa yung video namin shhhh! Also, for 2004
sana mag gold kami, yan muna, sana people will support
us and love us and sana deserving ang mananalong presidente
haha!
Ms. Interviewer: What is the most fun thing about what you're doing now? What is the most fulfilling?
Juris: When people show how they genuinely love and appreciate your music and talent, and the best thing is I'm doing what I love to do. And now we have an album out! Overwhelming dude!
Mr. Interviewer: Ever gotten any anonymous love letters?
Juris: Not naman love letters. Just nice notes and flowers. Sweet noh? =)
Mr. Interviewer: For the benefit of those who do not yet know, how did you guys team up?
Juris: Chin and I knew each other nung college pa. Pero at that time he had his band. Actually yun yung M.Y.M.P (all guys pa yun). Mike and I worked together. Basta dumating sa point na Chin was looking for singers and we were the back up band of Brix F. noon. Tapos umalis si Brix for abroad and nabuwag yung grupo. Habang naghahanap kami ng members to complete a six piece band, we were doing acoustic on the side. Eventually, nabuo yung grupo, but we were still doing acoustic as sideline. Then we realized na mas OK yung results nang acoustic gigs and yun na. Nag decide na kami to give up the band and go with just the three of us.
Mr. Interviewer: And why "Make Your Momma Proud"?
Juris: Chin is the founder of MYMP. It's for his mom who died. I think he was 17 then. His mom didn't live to see him mature as a musician kase. Also it's for our mothers who have their own career preferences for us but are nevertheless very supportive and understanding of what we are doing now.
Ms. Interviewer: What is your favorite song in the album?
Juris: A Little Bit. Tibok ng Puso
Ms. Interviewer: If you were to choose a theme song for where you are now in life, in terms of every aspect, what would it be?
Juris: From the album again? Awit ng saya! But if not from the album, it would be "HOME" by Brian McKnight, check it out!
Mr. Interviewer: Will you marry me?
Juris: Hmmm. Again if you buy 1million CDs, dun ko pa lang pag-iisipan, OK? Hehe.
Mr. Interview: <Runs off to buy
all albums at the stores>
Ms. Interviewer: Crazy dude. You mentioned our batch in your album's acknowledgment, how has the batch helped you?
Juris: It's like Make your batchmates proud. I remember back in high school, even until now, I got a lot of encouragement. And wala pa album namin, may supporta na according to adduhs95.com! Sobrang thank you!!!
And thank you, Juris, for taking your time for this interview. We hope we'll get to see you again perform soon!
Of course, we'd also like to thank Kay Bunagan (Ms. Interviewer) for accompanying our dear webmaster (Mr. Interviewer) in this interview.
